LinkedIn accounts hacked in widespread hijacking campaign


LinkedIn is experiencing a surge in account hacks, with users reporting lockouts and hijackings. Cybersecurity firm Cyberint reports that some users have been pressured to pay a ransom to regain control of their accounts. The hackers appear to be using leaked credentials or brute-forcing to gain control, often changing the associated email address and turning on two-factor authentication, making recovery difficult. LinkedIn accounts are valuable for social engineering, phishing, and job offer scams. Users are advised to review their security measures, enable two-factor authentication, and use a unique, long password.
