Researchers from the Universities of Bonn and St. Andrews propose a new solution to the “Hubble tension” – the discrepancy in the measured values of the universe’s expansion rate. Using an alternative theory of gravity, they suggest that the Earth is located in a region of space with relatively little matter, causing galaxies to move away faster than expected. This theory could resolve the Hubble tension, attributing observed deviations to irregularities in matter distribution.
