HANNspree has unveiled an innovative LCD display technology, dubbed ecoVISION Paper Display, at IFA that combines the paper-like aesthetics and energy efficiency of E-Ink with the high refresh rates of traditional LCD screens. This groundbreaking display offers a matte, backlight-free experience similar to E-Ink but without the slow refresh rates, making it ideal for reading and outdoor visibility. The ecoVISION Paper Display boasts a 60Hz refresh rate, 5ms response time, and 24-bit color depth, significantly outperforming colored E-Ink displays in both refresh rate and color vibrancy.
HANNspree has incorporated this technology into two budget Android tablets, featuring MediaTek processors, 5MP front cameras, 4GB of RAM, and support for USI 2.0 styluses. The tablets, available in 7.8-inch and 10-inch models, promise reduced eye fatigue, lower energy consumption, and multiple days of battery life. They run Android 14 and are fully Google Play certified.
While the ecoVISION Paper Display may not cater to those seeking high-end multimedia consumption, it presents a compelling option for users prioritizing reading, studying, and productivity with minimal eye strain and power usage. The technology also extends to computer monitors and signage, showcasing its versatility and potential in various applications. Availability and pricing details are expected later this year or early next year, with the products set to be sold on Amazon.
