Spain is set to witness an extraordinary celestial trifecta with three major solar eclipses occurring in consecutive years: a total eclipse in 2026, another total in 2027, and an annular “ring of fire” eclipse in 2028. Unlike recent events in Argentina and Chile, these Spanish eclipses will bypass the country’s major cities, Madrid and Barcelona. The 2026 eclipse will grace northern Spain, offering the best views in places like Palencia, Burgos, and Valladolid. The following year, the eclipse will move to southern Spain, with Tarifa and areas between Cadiz and Malaga being prime viewing spots. The 2028 annular eclipse will also favor southern Spain, particularly the Gulf of Cadiz. These events present a unique opportunity for eclipse enthusiasts, especially considering the next significant eclipse in the U.S. won’t occur until 2033. Following Spain’s celestial showcase, Australia will become the next hotspot with four total solar eclipses between 2028 and 2038.
