The decision, contrasting Western courts’ rejection of such protections, signifies China’s pro-growth, business-friendly approach to AI regulation. The case was initiated by a plaintiff whose AI-generated image was allegedly used without permission, leading to a copyright infringement lawsuit. The court ruled in favour of the plaintiff, recognising the human intellectual investment in the creation of the AI image.
