With the new hotpatch updates, users of Windows 11 Enterprise and Microsoft 365 will no longer need to restart their devices after installing security updates. This feature will first appear in the Windows 11 Enterprise version 24H2.
Hotpatch updates are designed to be unobtrusive and efficient, allowing security patches to be applied directly to the in-memory code of the operating system. This means the updates take effect immediately upon installation, eliminating the need for a reboot. Although there is no confirmation on when hotpatching will be available for Windows 11 Home and Pro editions, the deployment of this technology in enterprise environments marks a step forward in Microsoft’s commitment to security and efficiency.
